......This week, Lexa shares a little of her tango magic as guest teacher at LIBERTAD. Learn to both LOOK & FEEL good on the dancefloor. Intermediate lesson: Cut to the Chase - how to lead and follow Ocho Cortados and variations on them.

Lexa is the co-host of LIBERTAD milonga and 2008 US Stage Tango Champion (with Gayle Madeira). She also held #3 position in US Salon Tango for 3 consecutive years (2007-2009) with Kumi Ueki, Gayle Madeira, and Sarah La Rocca. Lexa has been dancing tango since 1995. Lexa taught at DanceSport, and now teaches privately, as well as djs, and performs - but her most favorite aspect of Argentine tango is to dance socially.

Eva Carrozza began dancing tango after seeing street performers improvising in the Ramblas of Barcelona in '92 (when the city was preparing for the Olympic games and street performances abounded!) Fascinated by the connection evident in this dance -- she took her first classes with Danel & Maria Bastone, pioneers of social tango in New York City. Since then, she has studied with Guillermina Quiroga, Facundo Posadas, Julio Balmaceda & Corina de la Rosa, Graciela Gonzalez, Pablo Veron, and many other great teachers during travels to Buenos Aires and tango congresses around the United States. A brief, but illuminating partnership with dancer and author Ramiro Gigliotti (El Veneno de Tango, 2009) from 2002-2004 brought the influence of Villa Urquiza style of dancing tango to Eva's dancing. Over the years she has performed with Ney Melo, Murat Erdemsel, Eduardo Goytia, and Ramiro Gigliotti. Teaching, she emphasizes refining the connection through improving posture, flexibility and security in the embrace, and going deeper into the music to bring the partnership to a richer experience of tango. Eva Carrozza began her dance career as a modern dancer. Eva's immersion into social dancing began in 1993. She loves teaching and performing. She is a senior teaching artist with the American Ballroom Theater's Dancing Classrooms. A program founded by Pierre Dulaine & Yvonne Marceau. This program was featured in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom and the film, Take the Lead.

In recent years, she has toured with the big band revue: Forever Swing. She performed tango with the New York City Ballet program Ballet for Young People at New York State Theatre and appeared in the Wendy Taucher production Carly Simon Dances with original and previously recorded compositions by Carly Simon. If you watch channel 13 in NYC, you will probably see Eva dancing tango on the station identifications.

I must announce that I bought a pair of comme il faut tango shoes from Chino.
I could not resist.
They are so damn hot.
I have no idea when I will wear them.
I took my Dance Partner to buy some shoes and my inner tanguera just came raging out and I couldn't leave until I bought her a pair of shoes.
I haven't followed much for years but lately, more guys ask me to dance and I usually follow them in my Fabio tango sneakers. They are great as I can lead and follow in them.
I had a pair of character shoes with a heel when I first started dancing. I loaned them to a student for a competition and never got them back. So I guess it's important to me to have a pair of heels lurking around.
Atención! as one of these days my comme il fauts will make their debut...
